So I was walking in Newburgh around 9ish. Cars kept beeping and people were whistling at me. Not just at me, but at any other girl who was walking down Broadway at that time (but I guess most of them are smart enough not to). What the hell. Okay so I’m walking down the street. I must be a prostitute. Made me kind of angry, and scared too. there was one guy who actually went around the block and back after he beeped and pulled over and started talking, and when I walked away he started yelling. It’s kind of sad how the guys in this city just assume stuff like that. It’s kind of a messed up place.
Anyway, the post was more about this: I was walking across the entrance to a McDonalds, and a car was pulling out, so I waited on the sidewalk to let them go first before I crossed. The guy yelled out his window, in a very sarcastic and backhanded tone “Go ahead miss white lady, have a good night” and let me cross. Then after I crossed he said again, “Have a good night ma’am”. Its weird because I dont really know what to think about it… I mean people were being rude to me the whole night, and this one guy does something nice, he lets me go in front of him even though its not easy to pull out of that parking lot and you gotta go when you get a chance… And I’m insulted by it? I’m not sure why. There was something about having to call me miss white lady and just overall sounding very sarcastic and mean that I didn’t get. But what I also don’t get is, that if he really meant to say that in a rude way, then for what reason?
